Dr. Elisabeth Aponte is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist, board-certified ophthalmologist, cataract surgeon, and Board-Certified in Lifestyle Medicine.

She has performed thousands of eye procedures and is recognized for her expertise in ophthalmology, including the evaluation and management of glaucoma, glaucoma lasers, and glaucoma surgeries.

 

She earned her medical degree from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and completed her ophthalmology residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Aponte then pursued specialized fellowship training in glaucoma at the University of Iowa, one of the nation’s top eye hospitals.

 

Dr. Aponte has contributed extensively to glaucoma research, with publications in leading scientific journals. Her work is cited in the foundational Basic Science and Clinical textbooks used by ophthalmologists in training across the United States.

 

She has privileges at Northwoods Surgery Center in Virginia, Fairview Range in Hibbing, Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wisconsin, and Essentia Health in Virginia. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Aponte is passionate about promoting overall wellness through Lifestyle Medicine.

 

She enjoys church activities with her family, mission trips to Haiti, and indulging in chocolate desserts.
