Medical Weight Loss in Duluth

Personalized, Evidence-Based Weight Loss Care

Losing weight isn't simply about willpower. For many people, weight is influenced by a combination of genetics, hormones, metabolism, medications, stress, sleep, medical conditions, and lifestyle habits.

At LifeviewMD, we recognize obesity as a chronic medical condition that deserves personalized, compassionate, and evidence-based care. Our goal is not to help you follow another fad diet—it is to help you achieve sustainable, long-term health through a comprehensive medical approach.

Whether you've struggled with weight for years, regained weight after dieting, or are interested in learning about GLP-1 medications, we're here to help.

Our Comprehensive Medical Weight Loss Program

Every patient is unique, which is why we create an individualized treatment plan based on your medical history, health goals, and lifestyle.

Your evaluation may include:

  • Comprehensive medical history

  • Weight and body mass index (BMI) assessment

  • Lifestyle and nutrition evaluation

  • Review of previous weight loss attempts

  • Medication review

  • Screening for obesity-related health conditions

  • Blood pressure assessment

  • Discussion of sleep, stress, and physical activity

  • Evaluation of hormonal and metabolic factors when appropriate

Our goal is to identify barriers to weight loss and develop a strategy that works for you.

Why Is Losing Weight So Difficult?

If you've tried multiple diets without lasting success, you're not alone.

Weight regulation is controlled by a complex interaction between your brain, hormones, metabolism, and environment. While healthy eating and physical activity remain essential, they are only part of the picture.

Many factors can make weight loss more challenging, including:

  • Genetics

  • Hormonal changes

  • Menopause

  • Insulin resistance

  • Certain medications

  • Poor sleep

  • Chronic stress

  • Medical conditions

  • Age-related metabolic changes

Understanding these factors allows us to develop a treatment plan that addresses the underlying causes—not just the number on the scale.

GLP-1 Medications for Weight Loss

GLP-1 receptor agonists have transformed the treatment of obesity and overweight in eligible patients. Medications such as Wegovy® (semaglutide) and Zepbound® (tirzepatide) are FDA-approved for chronic weight management in appropriate individuals.

These medications work by mimicking naturally occurring hormones involved in appetite regulation. They can help reduce hunger, increase feelings of fullness, slow stomach emptying, and support clinically meaningful weight loss when combined with healthy nutrition, regular physical activity, and other lifestyle changes.

While Wegovy® belongs to the GLP-1 receptor agonist class, Zepbound® works by activating both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, offering another evidence-based option for weight management. During your consultation, we will discuss whether one of these medications—or another treatment approach—is appropriate based on your medical history, health goals, and individual needs.

GLP-1–based therapies are not appropriate for everyone, and a comprehensive medical evaluation is necessary to determine whether they are a safe and effective option for you.

For appropriate candidates, GLP-1 medications may help:

  • Reduce appetite

  • Increase feelings of fullness

  • Support clinically meaningful weight loss

  • Improve blood sugar control

  • Lower the risk of obesity-related health complications

  • Support long-term weight management when combined with healthy lifestyle changes

Results vary from person to person, and medication works best as part of a comprehensive medical weight management program.

You may benefit from a medical weight loss evaluation if you:

  • Have obesity or overweight with weight-related health conditions

  • Have difficulty losing weight despite diet and exercise

  • Frequently regain weight after dieting
